Administration of Homyel university warns students against participation in March 25 demonstration in Minsk
The administration of Francisak Skaryna Homyel State University has warned students against participation in a March 25 demonstration in Minsk.
As Alyaksandr Lyasko, a first-year history student, told BelaPAN, Vice Rector Syarhey Khanenya warned him on March 20 that he may be expelled from the school if he traveled to Minsk and was grabbed by police during the demonstration.
“The vice rector also talked to my mother, although I have already come of age. Khanenya told my mother that I must study rather than engage in politics. The vice rector said that I was creating ‘groups’ in the university,” Mr. Lyasko said.
More opposition-minded students were warned against attending the demonstration by the university’s administration on March 20, according to Mr. Lyasko.
