Interior minister describes Belarus’ set of human trafficking laws as «one of best in world»

Interior Minister Uladzimir Navumaw has played up Belarus’ set of laws against human trafficking as “one of the best in the world.”

While talking to reporters in Minsk on Friday, he said that this was confirmed by foreign human trafficking experts taking training at the Belarusian Police Academy’s international center.

General Navumaw noted that some CIS countries had introduced similar regulations after studying Belarus’ laws.

All Belarusian-based firms offering jobs abroad, international marriage agencies and model agencies are currently required to obtain licenses from the interior ministry, which closely follows their operations to prevent human trafficking, the minister said.

General Navumaw acknowledged the existence of “drawbacks” in the country’s human trafficking regulations and called for tougher punishment for certain offenses in the sphere.
