Open-air painting session marks Vasil Bykaw`s birthday anniversary

 

An open-air painting session celebrating the 84th birthday anniversary of Vasil Bykaw started in the renowned Belarusian author`s native village of Bychki near Vitsyebsk this past weekend.

The organizers are the Yazep Drazdovich cultural center located in the Vitsyebsk region and the Pahonya group of the Belarusian Union of Artists.

Twenty artists are participating in the session to last until July 30. Among them are brothers Ales and Ihar Marachkin, Aleg and Igar Skavarodka and Ales Shaternik.

Apart from making paintings, participants also will meet with Bykaw`s sister Valyantsina Bykaw, Belarusian poet Ryhor Baradulin and singer Ryhor Stankevich. By tradition, part of works created during the session will be donated to the Vasil Bykaw museum located at his estate. //BelaPAN
