Forest in Minsk region three weeks after devastating storm
Numerous forestry crews from across Belarus and some 350 military troops continue working on storm clean-up in forests in the Berazino district in the east of the Minsk region three weeks after a fierce wind storm struck the area.
Winds gusting to 45 mph brought down hundreds of thousands of trees there on the night between July 14 and 15.
According to the forestry ministry, a total of 441,640 cubic meters of uprooted or broken timber has to be removed from a total area of 2,490 hectares (6,153 acres) before November 1.
A BelaPAN cameraman visited the area on August 7.
