Lukashenka: Russia acted calmly, wisely, nicely in Georgia
Russia acted “calmly, wisely and nicely” while resolving the South Ossetia conflict, Alyaksandr Lukashenka told Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at their meeting in the Black Sea coastal resort of Sochi on Tuesday, according to RIA Novosti.
“That was a calm and quiet reaction,” the news agency quoted the Belarusian leader as saying. “Peace has settled over the region for a very long time. That was done carefully and nicely.”
The Georgian-Ossetian conflict suggests the need for “difficult actions” within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, according to Mr. Lukashenka. “The time of easy actions and decisions is over. The moment has come for difficult actions within the framework of the Union State,” he was quoted as saying.
