Viewers choosing Belarus' Eurovision 2009 entry

Twenty-eight-year-old Pyotr Yelfimov (Pyotr Yelfimaw) will represent Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 to take place in Moscow in May.

Mr. Yelfimov polled the largest number of phone votes from the viewers of the national selection contest's final that was broadcast live on January 19.

As many as 11,475 people voted in favor of his act.

A total of five bands made it into the final. The other four were Gunesh, Domenika, Lifesound and Veter v Golove. Gunesh came second, receiving 7,949 votes.

The show also featured participants of previous Eurovision contests.
