Presidential Administration head to lead its advisory council

Uladzimir Makey, head of the Presidential Administration, has been appointed to lead its public advisory council that is expected to be joined by a number of pro-opposition figures.

The lineup of the council includes representatives of various non-governmental organizations, political parties and other social and political organizations, according to the presidential press office.

The main objective of the council is to discuss topical matters of the development of the state and society, devise proposals for Belarus’ “more active involvement in global processes” and improving “social, economic and political vectors of the country’s development,” the press office said.

Aleh Hulak, leader of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, and Alyaksandr Yarashuk, chairman of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions, are at least two government critics invited to join the council. //BelaPAN
