BATE midfielder Sivakow leaves for Sardinia to play for Italy’s Serie A club Cagliari Calcio

Mikhail Sivakow (Sivakov), one of the most talented young soccer players in Belarus, on February 5 left for Sardinia to join Italy’s Serie A club Cagliari Calcio.

The Sardinian club has signed the 21-year-old midfielder from the Belarusian champions BATE Barysaw to a four-year deal.
Cagliari are a young and ambitious team, which have been playing well this season, Mr. Sivakow said.

“They have a young and promising head coach, that is why Cagliari can be compared to BATE [which are coached by 31-year-old Viktar Hancharenka],” he said. “I wanted to try myself in Europe, that is why I feel no fear. The only thing that disturbs me is that I have to part from those dear to me.”
