Finance minister reports budgetary shortfalls of 200 billion rubels in January
Belarus’ budgetary revenues in January fell 200 billion rubels ($70.2 million) short of the expectations, Finance Minister Andrey Kharkavets said at the ministry’s board meeting on Thursday.
The situation in the economy and the state’s finances continue to be tense in the post-crisis period, Mr. Kharkavets said.
According to him, the national budget’s revenues in January totaled 2 trillion rubels, with payments into the state funds not taken into account.
Revenues from value-added tax, excise taxes and external economic activities fell far short of the targets, the minister noted. The shortfalls regarding external economic activities are explainable, but the figures for VAT and excise taxes are alarming signals of the state of the economy, he added. //BelaPAN
