The European Union has failed to meet some of Belarus` expectations, Uladzimir Syanko, the Brussels-based Belarusian ambassador, said in an article published by the European Voice website, BelaPAN reports.
"Expectations are high on both sides," the diplomat said in the English-language piece. "Not everything satisfies our partners in Brussels, but, it is important to emphasise, Belarus`s fundamental expectations of the EU are also very far from being satisfied." Mr. Syanko said that "this is the case in almost all areas of our co-operation, from politics to economics to people-to-people contact." "We are still waiting for tangible results," he stressed.
Noting that Minsk wants to develop relations with the EU, the ambassador said that the 27-nation bloc "does not always respond in the right way."
