Belarusian geologists actively cooperate with Russian colleagues on a number of projects, Alyaksandr Shuravin, director general of the Belhealohiya prospecting enterprise, told reporters in Minsk on April 1.
In particular, he said, Belhealohiya is bidding for a contract to explore salt deposits in Russia’s Volgograd province. The winner is expected to be announced in late April.
In addition, the enterprise will carry out exploration work in Turkmenistan, a Central Asian country rich in mineral resources.
“We do various types of work in foreign countries to increase exports of services. Many offers come from various countries of the world: from Africa, from Asian, South American and other countries. We will take them into account but will have operations only in Russia and Turkmenistan so far,” Mr. Shuravin said.
Andrey Pontus, director of a company handling images of Earth’s geology photographed by space satellites, said that space data, which he said are widely used by Belarusian prospectors, are mainly supplied to Belarus by Russia.// BelaPAN.
