Lukashenka directs that export of Belarusian farm produce be increased 2.5 times within next five years

The export of Belarusian farm produce should be increased 2.5 times in the next five-year period, Alyaksandr Lukashenka suggested while inspecting farms and fields in the Brest region on Tuesday, as quoted by BelaPAN.

“This year our export of farm produce will be close on $3 billion, but this is just the beginning,” the government’s news agency BelTA quoted the Belarusian leader as saying. “We should soon reach $6 billion or $7 billion and then $10 billion, which is quite achievable for us, and then we’ll have no need to lament oil and gas supplies.”

According to Mr. Lukashenka, the world market situation is currently as favorable as ever for the export of farm produce and food. He directed that Belarus should have an export surplus of no less than $1 billion in foreign trade in farm produce and food.
