European Ski Federation president promises help to Belarus

The European Ski Federation (ESF) plans to help Belarus develop its ski sports, ESF President Peter Schroecksnadel told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday, as quoted by BelaPAN.

The ESF intends to support a social program to engage low-income people in skiing, according to Mr. Schroecksnadel. In particular, the organization will donate ski equipment to an Alpine ski center in Minsk for use by such people free of charge.

"We would also like to invite talented Belarusian athletes to train at our sports centers together with our skiers and under the guidance of our coaches," he said. "One of the main tasks of cooperation is the training of Belarusian ski coaches at our sports academy."

While in Minsk, Mr. Schroecksnadel was expected to meet with Prime Minister Syarhey Sidorski, Sports Minister Aleh Kachan and Natallya Pyatkevich, deputy chair of the Presidential Administration.
