Lukashenka visits children’s resort complex on Lake Narach

Alyaksandr Lukashenka and his five-year-old son Kolya on July 30 visited Zubranya, a major children’s resort complex officially called the Zubranya National Children`s Educational and Health Center, which is located on Lake Narach some 100 miles north of Minsk.

The Belarusian leader pointed out that Zubranya and other children’s camps and health centers should be developed without a rise in public expenses.

He suggested considering the possibility of offering the services of this and other children’s camps in the country to foreigners, who he said would pay the full price. “This should be thought over,” he said. “Foreigners aren’t poor people. But it’s necessary to create proper conditions for recreation. There should be good conditions for this to pay.”

“But we shouldn’t overdo it; we deal with children,” he added

Zubranya Director General Nadzeya Anufriyeva told the head of state that children from other countries normally account for 10 percent of the camp’s guests. According to her, the center provides some 25 types of services and government subsidies make up only 40 percent of its budget.

Mr. Lukashenka and his son attended the opening ceremony for a children’s military game called Patriot, took part in some of the game’s stages and talked to participants. They tasted a “soldier’s kasha” that was cooked in a “field kitchen.” Kolya started a “Bonfire of Friendship.”

Zubranya occupies a total area of 76 hectares. It can accommodate 640 children at a time in spring and fall and up to 1,050 children in the summer season. //BelaPAN
