Tanker laden with Venezuelan oil for Belarus to arrive at Lithuanian seaport this month

A tanker laden with Venezuelan crude oil for Belarus is expected to reach Klaipeda on August 29, Jurga Daujotiene, a spokeswoman for the Lithuanian seaport, told BelaPAN.

The vessel is carrying a shipment of some 80,000 tons of crude, which will be transported by rail to the Naftan oil refinery upon its arrival in Klaipeda.

This will be the first shipment of Venezuelan crude to reach Belarus through the Lithuanian seaport.

"Hopefully, the transportation of oil for Belarus through the Klaipeda seaport will be carried out regularly afterward," Ms. Daujotiene said, adding that a decision on the matter rested with the Belarusian government.

A contract was signed in Caracas on March 17 for Venezuela to supply up to four million tons of oil to Belarus before the end of this year.
