Talks are underway with investors in the European Union that could develop four mineral deposits in Belarus as concessionaries, Anatol Lis, deputy minister of natural resources, told reporters in Minsk on August 25, as quoted by BelaPAN.
There is no lack of interest in the deposits at present, Mr. Lis said.
The investors would not find more favorable concession terms in EU countries, he said, promising that they would encounter no problems in Belarus.
The deposits in question are the Brynyova gypsum deposit near Petrykaw, Homyel region; the Astrazhanka bentonite clay deposit in the Lelchytsy district, Homyel region; an iron ore deposits near the village of Akolava in the Stowbtsy district, Minsk region; and an iron ore deposit near the village of Navasyolki in the Karelichy district, Hrodna region.
The government had to cancel bidding contests for the deposits last year after companies based in China and the United States had withdrawn their bids.
