Trade between Slovakia and Belarus decreased by $7 million, or eight percent, year-on-year in the first six months of 2010 to $81 million, Ambassador Marian Servatka told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday, as quoted by BelaPAN.
Bilateral trade decreased by $80 million in 2009 to $176 million, Mr. Servatka said.
In the first half of 2010, Belarus' exports to Slovakia decreased by $8 million to $45 million. Belarus supplied Slovakia with potash, petroleum products, refrigerators, freezers and tractors.
Belarus' imports from Slovakia rose by $300,000 to $35.4 million. Belarus imported plastic products, air pumps, vacuum compressors, gearboxes, motor vehicles, tractor components, televisions and computer screens.
A Belarusian-Slovak commission for trade, economic and scientific cooperation is to hold its new, 10th meeting in the first half of 2011, Mr. Servatka noted. A Belarusian-Slovak chamber of commerce and industry will be established in Slovakia this year to help the business circles of the two countries step up their cooperation, he said.
