Belarus' foreign trade in goods increased by 16.9 percent in the first seven months of 2010 to $30,785.7 million, said the National Statistics Committee, BelaPAN reports.
The country’s exports reportedly increased by 20.6 percent to 13,292.3 million and imports by 14.2 percent to $17,493.4 million. The deficit in trade in goods thus totaled $4,201.2 million, down from $4,291.3 million in the first seven months of 2009.
Belarus had a deficit of $3,475.6 million in trade with CIS member countries in the first seven months of 2010, compared with $4,909.4 million in the same period of 2009.
Exports rose by 48.8 percent to $7,158.7 million and imports by 9.4 percent to $10,634.3 million. Trade with CIS countries increased by 22.5 percent to $17,793 million.
Belarus' exports to Russia rose by 49.2 percent to $5,236.8 million and imports from Russia by 6.1 percent to $9,470.2 million. Trade between the two countries amounted to $14,707 million, 18.3 percent more than in the first seven months of 2009. The deficit in trade with Russia totaled $4,233.4 million, down from $5,517.3 million.
Trade with Kazakhstan increased by 97.8 percent to $419.3 million. Belarus' exports rose by 62 percent to $273.3 million and imports by 240 percent to $146 million.
Belarus had an export surplus of $127.3 million in trade with Kazakhstan in the first seven months of 2010, up from $125.4 million in the same period of 2009.
Trade with non-CIS countries increased by 10.1 percent to $12,992.7 million in the first seven months, with exports declining by 1.3 percent to $6,133.6 million and imports rising by 22.6 percent to $6,859.1 million. Belarus thus had a trade deficit of $725.5 million, compared with an export surplus of $618.1 million in the same period of the previous year.
