Belarus ranks seventh among post-Soviet countries in terms of national currency depreciation in first eight months of 2010

Belarus ranked seventh among post-Soviet countries in terms of the depreciation of the national currency against the US dollar in the first eight months of the year, BelaPAN reports.

Belarus ranked sixths in January, sixth in January and February, fifth in the first three months, sixth in the first four months, fifth in the first five months, sixth in the first six months and seventh in the first seven months.

In January through August, the official rate of the dollar against the Belarusian rubel rose by 5.2 percent, from 2,863 to 3,012 rubels.

Belarus had the highest national currency depreciation rate, 30.14 percent, among the 15 post-Soviet countries in 2009.
