China's CAMC Engineering is ready to build a seaport and liquefied gas terminal in Lithuania that will be controlled by the Belarusian government, the press office of the Belarusian Council of Ministers told BelaPAN.
The project was under discussion at a meeting between Belarusian Prime Minister Syarhey Sidorski and Ren Hongbin, CEO of China's Sinomach that controls CAMC Engineering, in Minsk on September 9.
Earlier this year Mr. Sidorski ordered the establishment of a working group that would come up with proposals before this November regarding the possible construction of a liquefied gas terminal in Lithuania.
Belarusian Energy Minister Alyaksandr Azyarets and his Lithuanian counterpart, Arvydas Sekmokas, discussed the possible project at a meeting this past June.
Experts suggest that the construction of the terminal would allow Belarus to reduce its dependence on Russian gas imports.
