Pro-government trade union federation holding convention in Minsk

The Sixth Convention of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) opened in Minsk on September 15, BelaPAN reports.

"In the last five years we have been welded into a powerful organization capable of solving any tasks in the interests of working people," FTUB Chairman Leanid Kozik said while opening the event.

Mr. Kozik noted that workers and trade unions enjoyed support from Alyaksandr Lukashenka. "The president has always considered the subjects of our appeals himself and made decisions that on most occasions supported trade unions and workers," he stressed.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka is expected to deliver a speech at the convention on September 16.
