Belarus has applied to China Eximbank for loans totaling $3.8 billion, official says

Belarus has applied to the Export-Import Bank of China (China Eximbank) for loans totaling $3.8 billion to carry out 13 investment projects, Syarhey Trafimovich, a departmental head at the economy ministry, told reporters in Minsk on October 7.

"We expect loan agreements on them [the projects] to be concluded soon," Mr. Trafimovich said.

Chinese banks have opened a $15-billion credit line to finance projects in Belarus, he noted.

The government plans to use the Chinese loans to carry out 104 projects, including the construction of a pulp mill and a sodium carbonate plant, and the modernization of the Minsk National Airport, Mr. Trafimovich said. //BelaPAN
