Human rights defender Alena Tankachova may be stripped of her residence permit
Alena Tankachova, leader of the Minsk-based Center for Legal Transformation, also known as Lawtrend, told BelaPAN that Belarusian authorities were seeking to annul her residence permit.
“On September 23, I was notified that the annulment procedure had been launched,” the human rights defender said. “Although I’m a citizen of Russia, I have lived in Belarus for nearly 30 years and don’t want to leave. As a lawyer, I’m taking all necessary legal steps to defend myself.”
Ms. Tankachova refused to say anything else about the matter.
