Land on Minsk's Peramozhtsaw Avenue is to undergo redevelopment, Viktar Nikitsin, chairman of the city executive committee's architecture and construction department, said at a news conference in Minsk on Wednesday.
The department has already finished work on a design plan.
According to Mr. Nikitsin, the draft envisages the replacement of Belarusian State University's dormitory with a mixed commercial and retail developmen, the construction of a musical fountain, renovations at the Hotel Belarus and the area at the Nyamiha subway station, as well as the construction of a rowing center for children and youths beside the indoor soccer arena, of an indoor aqua park, and of two sports centers – rhythmic gymnastics and water sports centers – near the Drazdy Waters. The official said that the redevelopment of land on Dzyarzhynskaha Avenue was projected to be over by 2011.
