Belarus and Syria intend to carry out trilateral projects with Venezuela and Qatar, Alyaksandr Lukashenka told reporters in Minsk on July 26 following his meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, BelaPAN reports.

Mr. Lukashenka said that during his most recent visit to Venezuela, its president, Hugo Chavez, suggested looking for projects that the two countries could carry out in cooperation with Syria.

The foreign ministers of Belarus, Syria and Venezuela will consider this matter, and the three presidents will soon meet in Damascus to authorize specific cooperation projects, Mr. Lukashenka said. "In the same way, we'll try to negotiate interesting projects with Qatar and carry them out soon," he said.

Mr. Lukashenka expressed confidence that his meeting with the Syrian president would help the two countries identify new areas of cooperation and give a new impetus to the development of their relations.
