Belarusian exhibition "Sound of silence: Art During Dictatorship" opens in New York City

 

A Belarusian art exhibition "Sound of silence: Art During Dictatorship" has opened in New York City.

Curated by Belarus-born Volha Kapenkina, the exhibition brings together nine of the most active Belarus artists and groups with their videos, posters, paintings and installations created in solidarity with recent anti-government protests in Belarus.

On display are works by Maryna Naprushkina based in Germany, Alena Sulkowskaya, Syarhey Shabokhin, Yawhen Shatko, Ales Pushkin, Aleh Yushko, Alyaksandr Kamarow and the FAU art group.

A panel discussion, organized by the Polish Cultural Institute and Ms. Kapenkina, was to be held on the sidelines of the exhibition on January 29. //BelaPAN
