Lukashenka to visit Venezuela on June 26
Alyaksandr Lukashenka is to visit Venezuela on June 26, Hugo Chavez announced following his meeting with Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Uladzimir Syamashka in Caracas on June 2.
According to the Venezuelan president’s press office, Mr. Chavez noted at the meeting that joint economic projects were beginning to yield fruit. In this regard, he mentioned the construction of plants that would assemble Belarusian farm tractors and trucks in Venezuela, and the construction of gas supply facilities in Venezuelan cities.
The parties discussed the implementation of oil production projects and issues concerning electric power production and housing construction, the press office reported.
“We are pleased to tell the Venezuelan people that the [December 8, 2008 cooperation] agreement between Belarus and Venezuela functions normally,” Mr. Chavez said, according to the press office.
Also attending the meeting were First Deputy Energy Minister Eduard Tawpyanets, Deputy Foreign Minister Syarhey Aleynik and Valyantsin Hurinovich, the Belarusian ambassador to Venezuela.
Mr. Lukashenka has paid two visits to Venezuela: in December 2007 and in March 2010. The Venezuelan leader visited Belarus in July 2008, September 2009 and October 2010. //BelaPAN
