Music channel probed by authorities after it airs videos by blacklisted rock band, adult movie scene
A music channel suspended broadcasts on April 13 after it aired an explicit sex scene from an adult movie and videos by a rock band banned in Belarus earlier in the day, according to media reports.
BelMuzTv, which broadcasts music videos and entertainment shows round the clock, aired at least two videos by Lyapis Trubetskoi, a popular Belarusian band that has been blacklisted in Belarus over frontman Syarhey Mikhalok’s outspoken criticism of Alyaksandr Lukashenka. Viewers watched in shock as at around 3 p.m. the videos were followed by 20 minutes of sexually explicit material before the channel went off the air, said the news website charter97.org.
Some reports suggested that the incident was the work of a disgruntled technician taking revenge on the channel.
Authorities were said to have opened a probe into the incident. A police detail was seen near the office of BelMuzTv on Saturday afternoon. The channel resumed broadcasts on Sunday. //BelaPAN
