Representatives of Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum will now be invited to platform discussions and other Eastern Partnership events
Representatives of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum will now be invited to Eastern Partnership platform discussions and other events within the framework of the European Union’s Eastern Partnership program, Syarhey Matskevich, leader of the Forum, told BelaPAN.
This decision was made during a discussion of the program's third platform, "Democracy, Good Governance and Stability,” held in Brussels on April 29, said Mr. Matskevich, chairman of the Assembly of Pro-Democratic Non-Governmental Organizations. Attending the meeting were delegations from the six post-Soviet countries participating in the Eastern Partnership and the 27 EU countries, and also representatives of the European Commission. The meeting focused on measures to improve national judicial systems and to fight corruption.
A delegation of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum was present at such a meeting for the first time, Mr. Matskevich said. "We will now be invited to not only platform discussions but also other meetings," he said. "Almost all participants were in favor of this idea, except the representatives of the Belarusian government.
