PACE Political Affairs Committee to discuss situation in Belarus
The Political Affairs Committee of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) will hold a meeting in Paris on November 18 to discuss the situation in Belarus, the PACE press office told BelaPAN.
Sinikka Hurskainen, rapporteur on Belarus for PACE who visited the country in August, is expected to make a speech at the meeting. It will be followed by a discussion involving Yawhen Smirnow, chairman of the Committee on Legislation and State System Building in the House of Representatives, and opposition politician and presidential contender Vital Rymashewski.
In addition, taking part in the discussion will be Andrey Babok, a correspondent of the pro-opposition newspaper Narodnaya Volya, and Andrey Alyaksandraw, deputy chairman of the Belarusian Association of Journalists.
