Belarus voted into fifth place at 2010 Junior Eurovision Song Contest
The Belarus entry at the 2010 Junior Eurovision Song Contest was voted into the fifth place by voters and juries from 14 countries.
Armenia with “Mama” performed by Vladimir Arzumanyan won the eighth edition of the contest that was held at the Minsk Arena complex on Saturday night. Armenia was just one point ahead of Russia.
The contest, which Minsk hosted for the first time, featured live performances of kids between 10 and 15 years.
It was attended by all former winners of the show since the contest was introduced in 2003, as well as by the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest winner, Alexander Rybak, who performed as a guest star.
Belarus’ Russian-language piece “The Light of Music” received 12 points, the largest number of points possible, from Latvia and Georgia, 10 points from Russia and Armenia, seven from Macedonia, six from Moldova and Ukraine, four from Lithuania, three from the Netherlands and Malta and not a single point from Belgium, Serbia or Sweden.
Belarus gave 12 points to Russia, 10 to Serbia, eight to Armenia, seven to Georgia, six to Lithuania, five to Malta, four to Sweden, three to Belgium, two to Moldova and one to the Netherlands.
Belarus won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and 2007 and took second place in 2006, sixth place in 2008 and ninth place in 2009.
According to Bet365.com, Jesfine Ridell from Sweden was the top favorite with bookmakers one day before the final show. Mariam Kakhelishvili from Georgia climbed from the 5th to the 2nd place with her Lady Gaga inspired song “Mari Dari” on Friday. //BelaPAN
