Wave of panic buying stopped in Minsk, authorities say
The most recent wave of panic buying has been stopped in Minsk, the press office of the city executive committee told BelaPAN.
Referring to a survey conducted at nearly all stores in the city on May 28 and 29, the press office said that consumers no longer rushed to hoard basic foodstuffs, including cereals, vegetable oil, salt and sugar.
Wholesalers and retailers have one month's supplies of salt, sugar and vegetable oil, the press office said.
Stores lowered retail markups for 43 groups of goods by five to 20 percentage points on May 28 and 29 following a directive by the city government.
