Lukashenka plans to meet with Medvedev in December
Alyaksandr Lukashenka plans to meet with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in December and, perhaps, in late November, Belarusian Foreign Minister Syarhey Martynaw told reporters on the sidelines of a CIS summit in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, according to RIA Novosti.
In particular, he plans to hold talks with Mr. Medvedev in the framework of a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to be held in Moscow in December and in the framework of a session of the Supreme State Council of the Belarusian-Russian Union State, which may take place in the Russian capital city in late November, said Mr. Martynaw.
Commenting on Mr. Lukashenka’s decision not to attend the CIS summit in Dushanbe, the minister said that the Belarusian leader had to deal with “pressing issues” concerning the current situation in the foreign exchange market in the country. “We regret that he is not here, but the prime minister has arrived instead of him,” said Mr. Martynaw. “He has all the necessary powers and has been given instructions.” //BelaPAN
