Prime Minister Myasnikovich promises liberalization of foreign exchange market

The Belarusian government will liberalize the country's foreign exchange market in an effort to make its economy more open, Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich told reporters in St.Petersburg on October 19.

"We are moving toward liberalizing the economy, opening up the economy, including toward liberalizing the foreign exchange market and foreign currency transactions," the Russian government's press office quoted him as saying.

When asked about the prospect of the introduction of a single currency within the Eurasian Economic Community, Mr. Myasnikovich said, "We have asked for some time to have a look at all these matters, see how much we are ready for it and in what period we can do it realistically." //BelaPAN
