Babies race in Minsk

Babies aged under two years took part in an annual racing contest in Minsk on June 1.

Babies between nine and 11 months of age were to cover a distance of five meters in a crawling race, while toddlers between one and two years of age competed in two age groups in a running race.

Parents and older siblings had to go to great lengths to encourage some of the adorable tots to complete the race.

The event had been organized by an NGO called Razumenne (Understanding).

"The brightest and kindest event today is a crawling race. It shows love, the most genuine and sincere feeling that unites parents and their children," said Razumenne Chairman Andrey Makhanka.

Toys, games, books and clothes were collected for orphan children during the event.
