President of OSCE PA «set for cooperation» with Belarusian legislature after elections, Yarmoshyna says
The president of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is set for "future cooperation" with the Belarusian legislature after this month's parliamentary elections, Lidziya Yarmoshyna, head of the central election commission, told reporters on Tuesday while commenting on her meeting with Riccardo Migliori the day before.
According to Ms. Yarmoshyna, a September 10 meeting between Mr. Migliori and Uladzimir Andreychanka, chairman of the House of Representatives, lasted longer than planned. The OSCE PA president not only held talks with Mr. Andreychanka but also visited the Oval Hall in the House of Government, where the lower chamber holds its sittings.
Referring to her meeting with Mr. Migliori, the top election official said that he asked her questions about the opposition's representation on election commissions, the reasons for the registration denial for former presidential candidate Alyaksandr Milinkevich, and the decision to bar addresses by candidates that call for an election boycott from the airwaves. //BelaPAN
