Gay rights activists reschedule march in Minsk for October 30
The organizers of a march against homophobia in Minsk have rescheduled the event for October 30, activist Syarhey Androsenka told BelaPAN.
Earlier this month, a group of gay rights activists applied to the city authorities for permission to stage the march on October 11. However, they changed the event's date after the city authorities noted errors in the application and told them to reapply.
Mr. Androsenka said that this year's Minsk Gay Pride would take place as originally scheduled, between October 5 and 11.
The Minsk Gay Pride will feature 15 events, including concerts, book launches, discussions, workshops and round-table conferences.
"We will hold all of the events and will be preparing for the march afterward. At least I have a hope that we will be allowed to stage a legal demonstration this year," Mr. Androsenka said.
He said that gay rights activists would still mark Coming Out Day on October 11 with a "legal public event."
