Four Polish education officials denied Belarusian visas
Four officials representing the Polish education ministry were denied visas to travel to Belarus for attending a conference on Polish-language education.
The event was held by the "unofficial" Union of Poles in Belarus in Baranavichy, Brest region, on October 13.
The officials had been invited by the Polish embassy in Minsk and the Polish consulate in Brest.
When reached by BelaPAN on Monday, the Polish foreign ministry said that it regretted the Belarusian authorities` decision to bar the Polish officials from the country. Describing the visa denials as an unpleasant gesture and evidence of the Belarusian authorities` political stance, the ministry said that it could not push for the decision to be overturned.
