Lukashenka approves new composition of Council for Enterprise Development, names Prakapovich as head

Alyaksandr Lukashenka, by his edict issued on November 29, approved a new composition of the Council for Enterprise Development, naming presidential aide Pyotr Prakapovich as its head.

The Council includes representatives of large, medium-sized and small businesses, business associations and certain NGOs, according to the Belarusian leader’s press office.

The Council was established by Mr. Lukashenka in 1999. Its previous lineup included 29 people and was led by Uladzimir Zinowski, head of the National Statistics Committee.

Earlier this year, Alyaksandr Lukashenka criticized the Council’s performance and announced plans to reform it. Rumors had it that businessman Yury Chyzh could be appointed to lead the Council and its membership would be increased to 50 people.

It was not immediately known how many people had been included in the new Council. //BelaPAN
