CIA World Factbook ranks Belarus 12th in death rate
With 13.9 deaths per year per 1000 population, Belarus ranks 12th in the Central Intelligence Agency’s World Factbook out of 224 ranked countries.
According to the World Factbook’s July 2012 estimate, the Republic of South Africa ranks first with a crude death rate of 17.23 per 1000 population, followed by Ukraine with 15.76 and Lesotho with 15.18. The nation with the lowest death rate is Qatar with 1.55.
The crude death rate, the average annual number of deaths during a year per 1000 population at midyear, indicates the current mortality impact on population growth. The indicator is significantly affected by age distribution. Most countries will eventually show a rise in the overall death rate, in spite of continued decline in mortality at all ages, as declining fertility results in an aging population.
In terms of life expectancy at birth, Belarus ranks 138th out of 222 countries with 71.48 years. //BelaPAN
