IFC provided €45 million, $40 million for projects in Belarus in latter half of 2012, country manager says

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) provided €45 million and $40 million for projects in Belarus in the latter half of 2012, Rufat Alimardanov, the IFC country manager for Ukraine and Belarus, told reporters in Minsk on January 17.

He said that $40 million had been distributed in the form of trade finance loans, while €45 million had been lent to aluminum products manufacturer Alutech.

Volha Shcherbina, head of the IFC's office in Belarus, said that the international organization had invested a total of $340 million in the Belarusian economy. According to her, Belarus' financial sector has received some 40 percent of the organization's investments.

Belarus joined the IFC in November 1992. The organization started investing in the country in 2004. //BelaPAN
