Prime Minister Myasnikovich orders evaluation of performance of Belnaftakhim executive staff
Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich has issued a directive ordering that the efficiency of the Belarusian State Petrochemical Industry Concern (Belnaftakhim) and the performance of its top executive staff should be evaluated, reported the national legal web portal www.pravo.by.
According to the portal, the evaluation will be made by a specially established inter-agency commission.
The petrochemical conglomerate’s performance in 2012 and its plans for this year were discussed on February 6 at Belnaftakhim’s board meeting, which was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister Uladzimir Syamashka.
According to the Belnaftakhim press office, the sales proceeds of the conglomerate increased 3.8 times last year, while its profit from sales rose 5.7-fold and its net profit increased 7.1-fold. One of the conglomerate’s main achievements was that the export surplus increased from $1.9 billion in 2010 to $5.3 billion in 2012.
A week ago a spokesperson for Belnaftakhim told BelaPAN that the prices of electricity supplied to industrial companies in Belarus were currently above the world level and that the conglomerate had asked the government to lower electricity prices for Belarusian companies to make their products competitive but the request had not yet been granted. That is why companies under the authority of Belnaftakhim currently purchase Russian electricity directly and build their own generating facilities, the spokesperson noted. //BelaPAN
