Governor of Russia’s province of Omsk to visit Belarus
A delegation of Russia’s southwest Siberian province of Omsk, led by Governor Viktor Nazarov, is expected to stay in Belarus between March 10 and March 13.
Mr. Nazarov is scheduled to have meetings with Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich and the heads of the Minsk and Homyel Regional Executive Committees, according to the press office of the Belarusian foreign ministry.
On March 12, members of the delegation will take part in a business matchmaking session and hold a briefing to speak about the economic and investment potential of the Omsk province.
The delegation is also expected to visit AAT Amkador (Minsk-based company that manufactures road construction and other machinery), Minsk Automobile Plant, Minsk Wheeled Tractor Plant, Minsk Tractor Works, the Scientific and Practical Center for Agriculture Mechanization of the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, VA Homselmash and AAP Homyel (Homyel-based agricultural equipment manufacturers), agricultural company Ahrakambinat Kholmech, the Mahilyow Free Economic Zone, AAT Mahilyowkhimvalakno, Orsha Flax Mill and a number of industrial and agricultural enterprises in the Vitsyebsk region.
The delegation is also to visit the Minsk Arena complex and the National Library and lay a wreath at the obelisk in Victory Square in the Belarusian capital city.
According to the Belarusian foreign ministry, trade between Belarus and the province of Omsk increased by 34.5 percent in 2012 to total $227 million, with Belarusian exports amounting to $79.8 million, a 28.5-percent increase, and imports from the province totaling $147.2 million, a 38.1-percent increase. //BelaPAN
