Finance ministry reports national budget surplus of 600 billion rubels in first two months of 2013

 

Belarus had a national budget surplus of 600 billion rubels ($69.8 million), or 0.7 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in January and February 2013, reported the finance ministry.

The national budget's revenues totaled 14.9 trillion rubels, 13.5 percent of the target set for the entire year, and the consolidated budget's revenues amounted to 36.3 trillion rubels, 12.3 percent of the target for the year.

In particular, 9.1 trillion rubels came from value-added tax, or 15.3 percent of the target for the year; 3.4 trillion rubels from "external economic activities," or 11.3 percent of the target; 0.8 trillion rubels from profit tax, or 2.7 percent of the target; and 2.5 trillion rubels from excise taxes, or 14.9 percent of the target. Contributions to the government's Social Security Fund totaled 11.5 trillion rubels, or 16.4 percent of the target for the year.

As of March 1, tax arrears stood at 215.5 billion rubels, 17.3 billion less than a month before.

The national budget's expenditures totaled 14.3 trillion rubels, or 11.8 percent of the amount projected for the entire year.

The consolidated budget's expenditures totaled 36.3 trillion rubels, or 13.5 percent of the projected amount.

Public funds spent for financing the national economy amounted to 4.4 trillion rubels and funds spent for financing the “social sphere” (social welfare, education, public health, culture, sports and the media) to 23.1 trillion rubels.

As much as 4.5 trillion rubels, or 8.4 percent of the amount projected for the year, went toward "general state activities." // BelaPAN
