Higher education institutions start conducting «psychological» interviews of admission seekers
Schools of higher learning in Belarus on April 5 started conducting compulsory "psychological" interviews of would-be applicants seeking to major in professional fields such as in public administration, international relations, journalism, law and customs service.
The interviews, which are said to be aimed at assessing admission seekers’ psychological aptitude for the chosen profession, will be conducted until April 30.
As Yuliya Vanina, the education ministry's spokesperson, told BelaPAN, a total of 9,125 people registered for interviews. Their aptitude will be assessed by panels of experts consisting of instructors, psychologists, and representatives of various ministries and organizations, who will ask questions to establish the admission seeker's motives, values, intellectual and managerial abilities and communication skills, Ms. Vanina said.
There is usually a very small percent of those who fail a psychological interview, she noted. In 2012, only 0.6 percent did not manage to pass it. // BelaPAN
