BelaPAN’s cameraman, another journalist arrested by police in downtown Minsk
BelaPAN’s cameraman Syarhey Satsyuk and Aleh Hruzdzilovich, a correspondent of the Belarus service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, were arrested by police in Minsk on Friday while they were covering a demonstration against lawlessness in courts and prosecutors’ offices.
About 20 people gathered in Mikhaylawski Skver Park near downtown Lenin Square on Friday morning. However, athletic young men in civilian clothes forced them out of the park and arrested Messrs. Satsyuk and Hruzdzilovich. The demonstrators were expected to make their way to the House of Government in Lenin Square to hand a petition to Alyaksandr Lukashenka, who is scheduled to deliver his annual presidential address to the National Assembly and the Belarusian people on Friday.
Messrs. Satsyuk and Hruzdzilovich were put into a police car at about 10:15 a.m. and probably driven to the Maskowski district police station. //BelaPAN
