Lukashenka meets with Singaporean parliamentary speaker
Alyaksandr Lukashenka on April 25 met with Halimah binte Yacob, the visiting speaker of the Parliament of Singapore.
“We actively work in the region where Singapore and Indonesia are located, and in Southeast Asia in general,” the Belarusian leader said, according to the presidential press office. “We have big interests there. Since Singapore is a gateway to Southeast Asia, I hope very much our cooperation will have a huge positive effect in the future.”
Mr. Lukashenka noted that his recent visit to Singapore was of great importance for Belarus. "I recall with great satisfaction the visit to Singapore,” he said. “We really learned a lot there.”
Mr. Lukashenka said he was convinced that the current visit of the Singaporean parliamentary speaker would contribute to the development of bilateral relations. He expressed his best wishes to the president and prime minister of Singapore on behalf of the Belarusian people and confirmed an invitation for them to visit Belarus.
Ms. Halimah noted that there were friendly relations between Singapore and Belarus, and that Mr. Lukashenka’s visit had strengthened the relations. She emphasized the importance of the Singaporean-Belarusian business forum held during the visit, which she said resulted in the signing of bilateral agreements and memoranda. //BelaPAN
