Two journalists arrested following Chernobyl anniversary march to stand trial of charges of disobedience to police
Two journalists arrested following the “Charnobylski Shlyakh” (Path of Chernobyl) opposition demonstration in Minsk on Friday night are to stand trial on Monday on charges of failing to comply with lawful orders of police officers.
Henadz Barbarych and Alyaksandr Yarashevich, members of the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ), were apprehended while they were performing their professional duty and taken to the Savetski district police station. Both of them produced their journalist’s cards.
At 0:20 a.m., they were led out of the police station before the eyes of their associates, put into a police vehicle and driven to the detention center on Akrestsina Street where they are expected to stay until their trial on Monday. //BelaPAN
