Belarus' newspapers raise subscription prices

 

Belarus’ newspapers have raised the prices of subscriptions to their print versions for the latter half of 2013 compared with the first six months of the year.

In particular, major government-controlled national newspapers, such as Sovetskaya Belorussiya, Zvyazda, Respublika, Narodnaya Gazeta and Belorusskaya Niva, raised their six-month subscription rates by 18.2 percent to 234,000 rubels, and another government-controlled newspaper, Znamya Yunosti, increased it by 22.9 percent to 129,000 rubels.

The price of subscription to the Belarus editions of Russia’s popular newspapers Komsomolskaya Pravda and Argumenty i Fakty rose by 19.5 percent to 561,300 rubels and by 12.1 percent to 111,550 rubels, respectively.

A six-month subscription to Belorusskaya Voyennaya Gazeta (the defense ministry’s publication) increased in price by 25.6 percent to 136,800 rubels and the price of a six-month subscription to Na Strazhe (the interior ministry’s newspaper) rose by 23.6 percent to 122,400 rubels.

As for privately owned print media outlets, BelGazeta raised the price of a six-month subscription by 20.3 percent to 139,100 rubels, Belorusy i Rynok by 27.6 percent to 115,200 rubels, Nasha Niva by 3.5 percent to 97,800 rubels and Narodnaya Volya by 20 percent to 180,000 rubels.

The popular sports newspaper Pressbol’s six-month subscription rate went up 20 percent to 480,000 rubels. //BelaPAN
