Thanks to Beltranshaz, Gazprom has shortest and economically efficient route into Europe, CEO says

 

Beltranshaz, currently called Gazprom Transgaz Belarus, has been successfully integrated into Gazprom’s gas transportation system, Gazprom CEO Aleksei Miller said Friday, speaking at an annual general meeting of the Russian natural gas giant’s stockholders.

“As a result, we have got the shortest and economically efficient route into Europe, which increases the reliability and stability of overland deliveries to European markets,” Mr. Miller said.

According to him, Gazprom Transgaz Belarus remains a major external asset of Gazprom. In 2012, Gazprom pipelined 44.3 billion cubic meters of gas through Belarus. “So a logical continuation in the expansion of overland westward routes for the purpose of enhancing the reliability of overland deliveries would be the construction of a second leg of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline, the expediency and possibility of which we are discussing with our foreign partners and customers,” Mr. Miller said.
He noted that Gazprom’s gas exports to Europe rose by 10 percent year-on-year in the first five months of 2013.

Gazprom plans to supply no more than 23 billion cubic meters of natural gas to its Belarus subsidiary, Gazprom Transgaz Belarus, this year for a total of $4,255 million.

Gazprom Transgaz Belarus is to pipeline no more than 50 billion cubic meters of gas through Belarus in 2013, compared with 44.3 billion in each of 2012 and 2011, with Gazprom to pay no more than $600 million for the transportation services.
Last year Gazprom reportedly supplied 20.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Belarus, or 1.5 percent more than in 2011, with the price being reduced by 37 percent, from $265 to $165.6 per 1000 cubic meters.

In pursuance of agreements signed in Moscow in November 2011, Gazprom became the 100-percent owner of Belarus’ gas pipeline company, AAT Beltranshaz, after paying a total of $5 billion and pledging to charge Belarus $165.6 for 1000 cubic meters.

Belarus is expected to pay $166 per 1000 cubic meters in 2013 and $178 in 2014. //BelaPAN
